Upon some of the defining titles that shipped more than a decade ago, some of these legendary releases, when simplistic, have made a return with support for the newer hardware. For example The Stanley Parable was confirmed for full support moving ahead back in 2018. However, the game met plenty of uncertainty shifting its release date ahead on multiple counts.

Additionally, another title to the same merit is also facing the same fate currently. Back in August 2020, Thekla announced Braid, Anniversary Edition is on the way with PlayStation the major focus. However, despite its initial 2021 promised release window, the game is still sitting in the back of fans’ minds when it is to release.

In a recent announcement, Thekla confirmed the game is coming to more platforms along with a new April 2024 release date. You can watch the new trailer in the video below:

“The goal is to make it the craziest, most-in-depth commentary ever put in a video game,” Thekla founder Jonathan Blow writes. “You can follow particular threads of commentary spatially, through wormholes that go from level to level to see evolutions of particular concepts; the commentary has lots of markup so we can circle stuff on the screen, point arrows at whatever visual detail we are talking about, show diagrams, play back recordings of gameplay to show what happens if you try doing this or that in a particular level, and many other capabilities.”

One of the larger features also confirmed in the press release is the improvements coming part of Braid, Anniversary Edition. In that, better animations for higher performance, re-done game art by David Hellman, and even a toggle to swap between the original Braid and the new Anniversary Edition as well.

Are you excited Braid is releasing on more platforms?

Braid, Anniversary Edition ships on APril 30, 2024 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and Netflix.
