In 2021, Square Enix’s Bravely Default II officially launched. For a successor to the classic Nintendo 3DS release, the game received an 8/10 from Rectify Gaming in our review of the title. “Rich story, great characters, top notch sound and visual design complement the intense and engrossing combat mechanics. An ode to the RPG’s of yesterday, while also moving them forward into the modern landscape in a big way,” we wrote then.

The following year, Square Enix was hinting at the original 2012 making a return on the game’s 10-year anniversary. With the sequel on the Nintendo Switch, it is no question a port or even a remaster would be suitable for the hardware. It wasn’t until 2025 that Square Enix officially announced Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster. Instead, the game would ship as a launch title exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2.

Now more than half a year later, Square Enix announced Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster is now coming to more hardware. Both Xbox & PC versions for the remaster is now available. You can watch the launch trailer in the video below:

“Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster is set in Luxendarc, a world where four elemental crystals maintain peace until darkness erupts from the Great Chasm. Join the warriors of light, including Agnès Oblige, Tiz Arrior, Edea Lee, Ringabel and the cryst-fairy Airy, on a quest to restore the crystals and save the world,” the press release description reads.

“Work strategically to control the flow of battle with the innovative ‘Brave & Default’ battle system: Brave to expend Brave Points to increase the number of actions taken in turn, and Default to stock up a turn while shoring up defenses. With over 20 unique jobs, players can mix and match abilities to create diverse party compositions. Thrilling turn-based battles, which can be sped up by the player as desired, are enhanced further by a larger-than-life soundtrack from Revo, making the HD remaster a must-play for RPG fans.”

As for PlayStation, there is no word on a version for the Sony console. This is not the first instance that a Square Enix game skipped PlayStation for Xbox. Back in 2021, the publisher shipped Octopath Traveler for Xbox One without mention of a PlayStation 4 version then. You can read the full report by heading here.
