The rising of the Coronavirus or known as COVID-19 has been the story of this week with multiple events being canceled including E3 2020, Overwatch League Homestands for March and April. Now Brawlhalla has been affected by this as this weekend was CEO Dreamland which marked the first LAN of year 5 for Brawlhalla.
In the early morning on March 12, Blue Mammoth Games have made the decision to cancel the their showing at CEO Dreamland in Orlando, Florida this weekend. The reason they announced it at an odd time was so that other players didn’t fly in the day before the LAN like we saw with Final Kombat 2020 last weekend when NetherRealm made the decision last minute.
Here is the exact statement put out on Twitter:
“We’ve made the difficult decision to cancel the Brawlhalla tournament this weekend at CEO Dreamland. We will offer registered players an online alternative – TBA. We know this sucks, but the situation is changing fast and we needed to make this decision before more people travel.”
The positive news to take out of this was that they can host an online tournament like they do for seasonal championships with the same prize pool that would be at the LAN. We aren’t positive on what will exactly happen just yet, but it looks like there will be a plan B and worst case scenario it will be online.
The next Brawlhalla North American LAN is ComboBreaker in May which will take place in Chicago.
Lil Capped & Ithrow who play for us at Rectify Esports were indeed going to be competing at CEO Dreamland 2020.
