The recent string of recalibrating at Xbox under its new leadership is showing true strengths so far. Xbox boss Asha Sharma has proven this by leading with action very early into her new tenure at Xbox. One glowing example is the price reduction for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate in April. In that same month, she also provided her new ‘We Are Xbox’ testament which lies down a structured foundation to deliver success for the platform moving forward.
Additionally, Sharma is the first to herald the next-generation console for Xbox – Project Helix. Of course, it is gathered to be the most-powerful home system to release. What is confirmed is that the console will be released in-house directly from Microsoft. Another is its bridged approach to PC. At GDC, the Xbox firm used PC as the boneworks for development and Project Helix can easily translate that for its platform.
In a later statement, the introduction of PC to the living room is one aspect that former boss Ed Fries is surprised to see with that being the same ambition the original 2001 Xbox also pursued then. Sharma even sets the way with a new boot up to roll out next week which kickstarts more excitement for Project Helix. And, new details are to ship later this year according to Xbox vice president Jason Ronald.
For those who have asked, this is a recap of our announcements from GDC for those who weren't able to make it. We will have more to share about Project Helix later this year. https://t.co/9dZGg9WYNT

Ronald recently was promoted amid wider changes within the Xbox division by Sharma’s hand. Originally, it was understood that the new information would be shared today, May 7th. But in reality Microsoft is releasing the full details originally shared behind closed doors at GDC.
What is confirmed for later this year is that Microsoft will host its annual Xbox Games Showcase on June 7th. The showcase is to feature anticipated release like Fable & Halo: Combat Evolved. And in the post-show, a Gears of War: E-Day Direct will be taking place. The follow-up presentation has since been confirmed to run for at least 30 minutes in duration.
This year also marks a significant year for the platform. 2026 will be the 25th anniversary for Xbox. Previously, John Friend when speaking to License Global magazine confirmed that Microsoft is to prepare major festivities concerning Xbox for its quarter century birthday.
