After the lack of anything related to CD Project Red’s upcoming Blade Runner-esc title Cyberpunk 2077, we finally get some information concerning in-game purchases and what’s to be expected from them in the game’s story and world.
As a response to the recent troubles DICE & EA have with microtransactions and multiplayer unlocking, CD Project Red takes it to Twitter to address what they have planned for Cyberpunk 2077.
With many fans worried for the future of the upcoming title when Adam Kicinski, CD Project Red CEO said “there will be a certain online element related to Cyberpunk” in an interview with Polish Investment Site Strefa Inwestorow. Stated from Kicinski in the interview:
Online is necessary, or very recommended if you wish to achieve a long-term success.
But with their reply on Twitter to be reassuring, is also targeting at EA. That Cyberpunk 2077 will have “No hidden catch, you can get what you pay for — no bullshit”. “Nothing less than The Witcher 3”. Then expanding on what’s to be expected in the story for Cyberpunk 2077.
As it is a bold move to publicly address this on Twitter, yet the studio CEO plans to lean towards an online service for the title it is expected that CD Project Red will tread carefully as seeing the result from EA with Star Wars: Battlefront II. As a profitable business model must be translated into games cautiously to avoid the same treatment from fans as EA is having now.

.@PrettyBadTweets Worry not. When thinking CP2077, think nothing less than TW3 — huge single player, open world, story-driven RPG. No hidden catch, you get what you pay for — no bullshit, just honest gaming like with Wild Hunt. We leave greed to others.
