Following weeks of hints and teases for the next Battlefield, developer DICE paves an early June timeframe for the official unveiling for the newest game in the franchise. Although players were left unimpressed with the execution of 2018’s Battlefield V, the next game in the series has been pre-conceived to being a shoe in for success with claims of hopes for a revitalization of the franchise’s DNA for this new game.

At the time, DICE revealed Battlefield 2042. While many titles before took place in the near future, the newest entry meshes the same urban Battlefield characteristics with some added spice of futuristic flavoring like drones and other automated machines in the game. The new game also happens to be the first in the series that does not include a single-player campaign as well.

According to a discussion with DICE, The Verge confirms that Battlefield 2042 will be using bots to populate its 128-player matches when the game drops. While the game is not currently confirmed to feature cross-platform play as of reporting, it is a reasonable answer for DICE to share. The team does share that you can play other game modes to avoid bots when in-game.

The choice certainly is not anything new. Previously, Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall – another EA-published game – offered AI players when online. More recently, it was revealed that Lucid Games’ Destruction All-Stars will also incorporate the feature as well in an approaching update for the PlayStation 5 exclusive title.

Additionally, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds also made the same decision for the game previously. Although the feature at the time was said to be unique only to the PC version of the battle royale, the choice is to be in effect for all versions of Battlefield 2042. Battlefield 2042 arrives on October 22, 2021 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
