Today, Epic Games have announced that in the 2018 – 2019 season the company will provide $100,000,000 to fund prize pools for Fortnite competitions. They plan to be more inclusive, and focused on the joy of playing and watching the game.
There wasn’t too much info provided on tournaments and who’d they be partnering with, but it doesn’t come as a surprise that Fortnite will get into esports in a major way as their Battle Royale competitor in PUBG has been succeeding in it.
Another interesting thing about this is that unlike PUBG, Fortnite is played on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The main question is that what platform will it be played competitively on? The likely answer is PC, but you can never know these days and maybe we find more info at E3.
