Escape The Backrooms Hits Nintendo Switch 2 This Week

The Backrooms remains a recognized, internet labyrinth that feels like another world yet also completely nostalgic. The series that spawned as a YouTube series has also broken into video games. We saw this with The Backrooms 1998 last year for all systems. And more recently Escape the Backrooms also arrived to consoles as well for the 4 player co-op experience.

Not to mention A24’s The Backrooms with creator Kane Parsons in the director’s chair before he’s 21. And with the hype still swirling for the universe, a new announcement was made by Secret Mode: Nintendo Switch 2 support is now live for Escape the Backrooms. “For the first time ever, players will be able to experience the eerie liminal spaces of the Backrooms either at home or on the move through the portability of the Nintendo Switch 2. Players will also enjoy a full cross-play experience, meaning gamers can attempt to Escape the Backrooms with friends playing on Xbox, PlayStation and PC too,” the blog post reads.

“No-clip beyond the bounds of reality and find yourself in the Backrooms… a series of haunting liminal spaces, from iconic yellow hallways and echoing pool rooms to horrific hotels and bone-chilling birthday parties. Either alone or with up to three friends,” Secret Room pens for the synopsis for Escape the Backrooms.

Already, the game is available for both XBOX & PlayStation as well as PC. Now, Nintendo Switch 2 arriving brings a new & growing player base to the lobbies with cross-play enabled as well. According to the Nintendo eShop page, Escape the Backrooms does not appear to feature any bespoke Nintendo Switch 2 features.
