
Square Enix announced Dragon Quest XII: Beyond Dreams during the day they celebrated the franchise’s 40th anniversary. They revealed that Dragon Quest XII underwent a restart in development under a new structure. The game had been revealed in 2021 with a darker tone attached to it with the name being The Flames of Fate. This time around, it looks to have a lighter tone in its Beyond Dreams name.
The game’s logo has been completely refreshed. Game designer Yuji Horii and executive producer Yosuke Saito shared messages in the development gameplay footage.

Square Enix also revealed that Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age will be coming to Nintendo Switch 2 this September. As for Dragon Quest XII: Beyond Dreams, a release window or platform support has not been revealed yet.
