The momentum for mobile from the console side of things are in full swing. Firms like Microsoft are vocally invested in bringing more games to players across the globe. We’ve seen this with the slow integration of its Xbox app with Xbox Game Pass. Even more, in-app game purchases were also promised to roll out this month as well announced by president Sarah Bond.

Additionally, PlayStation is also chasing the same business. According to a job listing back in May this year, it revealed that Sony Interactive Entertainment remains headstrong on its mobile initiative as well. Even more, Nintendo continues to entertain more mobile endeavors too with its most recent Nintendo Music release for Nintendo Switch Online users.

This week on LinkedIn, it is revealed that more leadership is being appointed for PlayStation’s mobile gaming drive. In that, former Meta/Zynga executive Olivier Courtemarche & previous Disney & Electronic Arts suit Justin Kubiak are now accompanying the mobile venture for Sony Interactive Entertainment. Courtemarche is now head of mobile while Kubiak is head of mobile business development and partnerships.

Overall, the announcement does bring some excitement to those interested to see how PlayStation’s multiplatform endeavor is to be executed. However, it also draws more questions. The new reveal comes after PlayStation just closed one of its mobile teams. Last month, the firm shuttered both Concord team Fireswalk Studios alongside mobile developer Neon Koi as well.

What’s more, the questionable approach for its PC gaming venture could also be applicable for mobile soon too. More specifically is the concern of its forced integration of PlayStation Network. On Steam, this is a requirement which many feel is more restraining and is said to be fully embraced moving forward. You can read the full report by heading here.
