The years waiting for The Last Guardian did deliver when gen Design officially launched it in 2016. “Gorgeous graphics which still hold up pretty nice in 2016, solid gameplay and an emotional journey with Trico are all standout aspects of the game,” our review reads. “It is a game that, just like ICO and Shadow of the Colossus (it’s spiritual predecessors), show how games can be art and can invoke emotions that you did not think you would be able to feel from a video game.”

The years following, it was understood a new game was on the way. In collaboration with Epic Games, gen Design alongside Remedy Entertainment & Playdead are to work on new titles in this publishing agreement. It was later teased by the developer a glimpse at the new game which did excite fans. But there has yet to be proper information in what the new futuristic epic that Fumito Ueda is conjuring.

At Summer Game Fest, gen Design was officially revealed and is confirmed to hit Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. You can watch the reveal trailer in the video below:

“In gen ATLAS you awaken on an abandoned planet, with no idea how you got there. Before you lies a vast, silent world. Colossal structures stretch over endless plains, deserted facilities, and an ever-changing sea. The remnants of some grand design litter the planet’s surface. This new trailer shows a seemingly desolate land being explored by the detached head of some nameless colossus. When the two join together the large entity seems to help the diminutive main character on his journey,” Epic Games writes.

“Without knowing why, you awaken on an abandoned planet. Before you lies a vast, silent world. Colossal structures stretch over endless plains, deserted facilities, and an ever-changing sea. The remnants of some grand design litter the planet’s surface. As you journey deeper into this strange world, a colossal robot awaits. Its overwhelming power opens paths to places once beyond reach, transforming your conception of the world. Across an endless expanse of time, the remnants of those forgotten constructs begin to move once more…” the store page synopsis adds.
