As the year begins to turn to the latter parts of August, the annual gaming event Gamescom is set to arrive later this week. But, of course, we will have to experience the showcase through the means of a virtual experience due to the plaguing affects of COVID-19 as we are all well aware of. Initially, the organizers shared to be negotiating to hold an in-person show this year, but ultimately scrapped the plans as the event would be held online.

Howbeit, the abrupt change of plans did not protrude on the second annual Gamescom Opening Night Live show held by Game Awards host Geoff Keighley. At the time of reporting, Keighley disclosed that the event would be redirected to an online alternative just like the show. But what to expect is surely anticipated from what was promised by from last year’s inaugural show.

Today, Keighley on Twitter went to spare some details on the scope for 2020’s Opening Night Live and unveiled that more than three dozen titles will be presented with approximately 18 publishers having their hands in the pot for the approaching event.

As for what is to expect already, Keighley previously addressed that id Software would be present to showcase the coming story expansion for Doom Eternal, The Ancient Gods, Part One. Additionally, he also teased that details for Fall Guys season 2 will also be featured at Gamescom Opening Night Live as well.

Keighley went on to share that all announcements will not directly be authentic as some titles were already announced and will simply be brushed upon at the show. Other projects offered include Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Mafia: Definitive Edition, Destiny 2: Beyond Light, Spellbreak, Star Wars: Squadrons, and a preview for the coming World of Warcraft animated series Afterlives.

Adding up the firm involved so far tallies Activision, Blizzard, 2K, Bungie, Electronic Arts, Bethesda, Digital Devolver, and Proletariat.  That is not including the list of companies involved with Gamescom as a whole for the entirety of the event which you can view by heading here.

What are you hoping to see be revealed during Gamescom Opening Night Live?

Gamescom Opening Night Live is scheduled to take place on August 27, 2020 at 11 AM PST / 2 PM EST / 8 PM CEST.
