While developer Tango Gameworks has only released under a handful of games, the Japanese game studio has went on to establish itself as a hallmark team and with each release should not be undermined or missed out on. With Resident Evil 4 game director Shinji Mikami helming the developer, expect a unique and refined experience come the release of each title.
Currently, Tango Gameworks is coming to a close with the long-awaited development for GhostWire: Tokyo. Originally announced in 2019, the game has remained behind closed doors for quite sometime as delays followed the title. But it was late last year that the firm told early 2022 would be when to expect the game. From a report by MP1st, GhostWire: Tokyo is slated to release in late March according to the PlayStation Store.
In a new announcement and gameplay preview for GhostWire: Tokyo, Tango Gameworks verifies the previous leak with the end of March to introduce the title to the masses. You can watch the presentation in the video below:
“A dangerous fog sets in and blurs the line between the normal and the paranormal, sealing Shibuya off from the rest of the world. As Akito, you’ll explore this transformed place and uncover pieces of the mystery of the mass disappearance, your lost family and Hannya, the masked man behind it all,” Kenji Kimura, GhostWire: Tokyo Game Director shares for the game’s story.
“As you delve deeper into the game, you’ll discover why Akito survived the disappearance and how he gained the power to fight back against the otherworldly horrors that have descended upon the city. Joining you on that journey is a tough-talking detective called KK. At the outset of the game, Akito is caught up in a fatal crash but his life is saved when KK’s spirit merges with his body to pursue his own ends -as a veteran ghost hunter with a difficult past, he has a history with Hannya and an agenda of his own.
“After merging with Akito, the two slowly come to understand each other better as they work to achieve their respective goals, though not without the occasional argument along the way. They’re not what you might call fast friends, but we think players will enjoy their colorful back-and-forth as they traverse the transformed Shibuya.”
Looking ahead for Tango Gameworks, the team is already working on its next game. While not disclosing specifics, lead Mikami did explain that The Evil Within 2 game director John Johannes is already busy with a new project. Additionally, it was flagged that the trademark for The Evil Within IP has be updated for “continued use” previously as well. You can read the full report by heading here.
