Although the first and second No More Heroes titles shipped back more than a decade ago now, 2021 officially delivers the third game in the series. Of course, there is the spin-off No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Back, but a full-on mainline installment has been on hold for more than a handful of years until now. After a delay for the game from its initially scheduled 2020 release window, we gets a new release date aimed for August 2021.
Now with the game available for its patient fans, the question now is what the team is working on next. Although fans are adamant on other titles to ship to the Nintendo Switch, many are also questioning the projects underway outside of the IP. Well, when speaking to IGN Japan, Goichi “Suda51” Suda reveals that there is roughly three new IPs that are being discussed currently.
Among those, it is very likely that other projects Suda is involved in is the collaborative venture with Hidetaka “Swery65” Suehiro, Hotel Barcelona, atop of the fresh projects underway. You can view the segment of the livestream in the video below:
“The broad answer is that we already have a lot of products as you mentioned earlier like that are in development, and over the next ten years we have three original IPs – one, two, three original IPs – that we’re working on or we are working on and that we already planned out,” Suda says through translator Gavin Greene. “So definitely look forward to new and interesting IPs from Grasshopper [Manufacture].
“We also of course have other plans that we are working all hard on them and these that we mentioned coming to fruition, but thinking about things I would love to do I’d love to work with Marvel like a Shadow Star or Deadpool or something very Grasshopppery thing like that. Maybe a Quicksilver title of some sorts.”
In terms of No More Heroes, Suda goes on to explain elsewhere in the livestream that the future of the IP is in the hands of Marvelous – that owns the rights to the series. He explains to worked with the publisher harmoniously as the firm gave Grasshopper Manufacture five years to work on No More Heroes III. But, he cannot answer what is to come next for the series currently.
