In May of this year, developer Hardsuit Labs officially unveiled that the highly-anticipated Vampire: The Masquerade- Bloodlines 2 will be launching on the Xbox Series X alongside the PlayStation 5 this holiday season. The announcement cemented the release date for the prolonged project which left many fans unsure when the title would actually arrive in the coming future.
Earlier on, Hardsuit Labs made the decision to extend development time on the project back in October 2019 as the game was initially slated to arrive the year prior. But even with a full year of additional time to work on the coming sequel, it still was not enough. Tacked on with the novel coronavirus, the developer today unveiled that another extension is needed to properly ship the approaching title.
On Twitter, Hardsuit Labs and publisher Paradox Interactive posted a letterhead addressing the situation and its ultimate decision to push the game into the following year.
“Due to the quality bar and ambitions we have set for ourselves, we have made the difficult decision that we need more time,” the reading discloses. “This means that our goal to release in 2020 is no longer possible. Moving launch is one of the changes we are making to ensure the best player experience possible.”
While the team already provided a very vague release date for the game aiming towards the holiday season initially, the same can also be applied to 2021 as well. No further details were spared on when exactly players can expect the game to arrive.
Today, another highly-anticipated property was also met with an unfortunate delay. That being 343 Industries’ Halo Infinite, the Xbox Series X launch title will now be missing its debut alongside the next-generation console this coming November. Now let’s see which of the two pushed titles will arrive first this coming 2021.
Elsewhere recently, developer Draw Distance announced a standalone entry for Vampire: The Masquerade with The Shadows of New York. The title is told to be a visual novel that strays from the previous Coteries of New York. You can read the full report by heading here.
