Helldivers 2 Receives Xbox Series X|S Port, Coming August 2025

One game that brought unity between console & PC was Helldivers 2. In our review, we scored the game a 7.5/10. “It is indeed a worthy successor to the original game, and a great homage to the sci-fi space action genre.” However, it never arrived to Xbox. Although there were rumors of a potential port, it felt more far fetched than anything for that dream to become a reality.

Selling over 12 million units collectively, Helldivers 2 was a sure fire hit. Moreover it was on PC. Analytics revealed that more players on PC frequented the game over its console counterpart. But one thing that would not change is the leadership for developer Arrowhead Game Studios. It was clarified online that plans to be acquired by PlayStation was never in its playbook, the team clarified.

Now after a year of defending democracy, the fight is coming to the other side – Xbox. Sony Interactive Entertainment & Arrowhead Game Studios revealed that Helldivers 2 is launching later in August for Xbox Series X|S. It lands on the same date as the PlayStation 5 release for Gears of War: Reloaded next month. You can watch the reveal trailer in the video below:

Game director Mikael Eriksson said in a statement on the Xbox version: “We know gamers have been asking for this for some time and we are so excited to bring more Helldivers into our game. We have so much more in store for the future months and years – and the more players we have the more stories we can tell! The fight for Super Earth has only just begun.”

To prepare the new freedom fighters entering the world of Helldivers, players on Xbox will be able to battle alongside their PlayStation & PC brethren with cross-play confirmed. “August will be here before we know it, which means we’ve got to get you officially enlisted […] With cross play on all platforms, get ready to add your strength to our ranks.”
