In less than a week, anticipated fans will truly immerse themselves in the enigmatic first independently developed project by Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions with Death Stranding. And while reception for the game has been split between the media for the past week, players show to still be eager to get their hands on the approaching title.

In celebration of the game’s soon to be launch for this Friday, BBC Newsbeat uploaded a short documentary of the closure for the game’s development. Information surrounding the title of course surfaced throughout the duration of the video, however, other pieces of detail have also been shared as the network dissects the mind of the creator for the Metal Gear series. One that wrote the headlines today is Kojima verifying that his self-named studio will create films later down the line.

“In the future Kojima Productions will start making films,” the studio head shares near the end of the vidoc. Kojima then goes on to explain that the developer is capable of taking the route towards film if able to achieve the same outcome through interactive entertainment, as we have seen with Death Stranding going gold just last month.

Adding on, Kojima shares his suspicions for where gaming along with other forms of media is heading, to streaming. With games to television and music being integrated to these online platforms, each will all have to undergo the same competitive ecosystem as they would before being compiled into one mass. “I’m very interested in the new format of game that will appear on there and that’s what I want to take on.”

While Kojima does reaffirm the priority for Kojima Productions to pursue film later on, this comes to no surprise from fans that have followed the team since the announcement of Death Stranding. Most recently, Kojima shared that there are multiple unnamed projects that he has under wraps following the launch of this Friday’s title, so one could already be a film that will be revealed at a later date.

Would you be interested in seeing a full-length film with Hideo Kojima at the helm of the production?

Death Stranding will be out on November 8, 2019 for PlayStation 4 and sometime next year for PC.
