Ever since the PlayStation 5 showcase that took place back in June of this year, Sony continued to campaign its new titles from its first-party network of studios to be unique to the coming next-generation console. Howbeit, despite what the firm advertised, it was later shared that some of the featured projects were not actually exclusive to the PlayStation 5 after all.
Entries such as Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales where the studio broke the news which surprised many fans. Even more, Sony elsewhere later disclosed that Sackboy A Big Adventure alongside the highly-anticipated sequel Horizon: Forbidden West would both be arriving to PlayStation 4 as well. But not all featured games are bound to a cross-gen release.
According to Insomniac Games on Twitter, the developer shared that the approaching Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart will only be available to PlayStation 5. The team broke the news in response to one user’s post.
Of course, it is expected that a game to the same degree as Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart would be only available on next-generation hardware. But again, we also expected the same for Guerilla Games’ coming follow-up as well. Regardless, it is reassuring to learn that the next Ratchet and Clank entry will properly utilize the PlayStation 5 architecture to bring a new and definitive experience.
Most exciting about Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is that Insomniac Games confirmed previously that the title will ship sometime during the PlayStation 5 launch window. The timing of its release is not yet confirmed, but it is expected to follow shortly after the release of the new console later this month. You can read the full report by heading here.
