The approaching Xbox Series X stands to be a very important time for the entire platform following the performance of the current Xbox One. While there are millions of users who play daily on the system to date, there was a lot of missed potential that was never reached on Microsoft’s latest console. With that, change is expected be met to appease to keeping current user and attracting new consumers for the next-generation.
One criticism is the interface for the system. While many fell in love with how simple and organized the Xbox 360 was, the Xbox One is a different story. From being clunky and obtuse since launch, the platform has faced several reiterations when approaching the current UI work for the console.
However, when it comes to the Xbox Series X, much is not expected to change according to The Verge’s Tom Warren. On Twitter, the outlet’s Senior Editor tells that many will not see a difference in both system’s interface; telling “the Xbox Series X dashboard will be the same as the Xbox One.”
Warren goes on to disclose that Microsoft will be implementing new features that will break the identicalness of both interfaces, but visually – the two will share no difference. He adds that of course with a new system including a custom SSD and more teraflops under its belt will support fast load times and more seamless traversing since the current experience is excruciating to navigate at times.
Furthermore in the thread, Warren sees the decision to be better than on surface level since Microsoft will of course ship countless updates to the system later on. Aligning with the new Store that is currently underway for the system is also told to ultimately evolve the entire interface as well when comparing to the Xbox One.
Last month when speaking with GameSpot, Xbox Director of Program Management Jason Roland shared there will be an overhaul of sorts to better the experience for navigating the dashboard in contrast to the current console. While the enjoyment of using the UI is projected to be in favor on Xbox Series X, it was uncertain if the firm would utilize the same interface for the next-generation console.
Howbeit, when reflecting on the Quick Resume Tech Demo that was uploaded back in March, the UI used in the video could have foreshadowed the news we are receiving this week. While that Xbox Series X is a prototype in the video, there is the possibility it referenced what is to come for the newer system. Aside from that, we still have yet to see the new dashboard entirely, so there is room for more change as we inch closer to the console’s release.
What do you think should be done for the Xbox Series X interface?
Xbox Series X is aimed to ship later on in holiday 2020.
