For those that might reflect back to the kick off for Google-ran Stadia in the months leading up to the platform’s release, the tech giant promoted some exclusive releases for the cloud-operated service. One that many were grabbed to see come to fruition happened to be Konami’s Super Bomberman R Online. Especially with it to virtually debut with Stadia, many were unsure if an exclusive multiplayer title was the way to go right off the bat.

But regardless, the game finally arrived and shipped to Stadia months following the launch of Stadia in September 2020. Additionally, Google also happened to feature Super Bomberman R Online as a Stadia Pro title at the time for paid subscribers to take on the new game first. But now, it appears that the Konami release is now breaking its exclusive ties to Stadia.

Similar to Unit 2 Games’ Crayta earlier this year, Super Bomberman R Online is said to arrive to all major platforms later on this year. “Building on the success of its initial launch on Stadia in September 2020, Super Bomberman R Online is making its way to new platforms,” Konami announces. This digital download exclusive game will be available in 2021 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation4, Xbox One, and Steam.

“The game will also be playable on PlayStation5 and Xbox Series X/S.” Additionally, Konami also presses that Super Bomberman R Online will also feature cross-platform play between supported platforms when it comes in the coming months. Most noted, Super Bomberman R Online will be a free-to-play release when it does ship this year.

On a side note, FanByte News Editor Imran Khan mentions a previous conversation with a Stadia representative that stated that Super Bomberman R Online could not run on a system outside of Stadia. “[The Stadida rep] said this game is ONLY possible on Stadia because of the way the engineering worked and it could not ever, on a fundamental level, come out elsewhere.”

Are you planning on trying Super Bomberman R Online later this year?

Super Bomberman R Online is coming to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC sometime in 2021; out now for Stadia.
