Part of its revitalization for the publisher, Konami has put a major emphasis on the Silent Hill franchise. Just last year, Konami has shared many plans ahead for the already stacked series. That fall, the Japanese firm launched Silent Hill f, and new AAA entry in the series from its internal studios. And, Silent Hill 2 Remake even received a Xbox Series X|S release as well.
Looking ahead, the firm also confirmed in 2025 that its partnership with Bloober Team has further blossomed with a new collaboration. A remake for 1999’s original Silent Hill is underway. Not only that, but Konami has also expressed the spotlight to be permanently on Silent Hill. It confirmed in an interview with Famitsu that annual releases are planned for the franchise in the coming years.
At the PlayStation State of Play, the showcase followed up on the previously announced Silent Hill: Townfall. Alongside a preview on the game in action, 2026 is officially slated for the new title. You can watch the trailer in the video below:
“Drawing on our previous experience designing interactive ‘retro’ user interfaces and VHS-style aesthetics, we wanted to take the handheld radio – an iconic tool of the Silent Hill series – and evolve it in our own way. The result of that evolution is the ‘CRTV’ – a lovingly crafted device that uses real retro technology and innovative techniques to produce the gritty, authentic audio and video used throughout the game,” the developer presses on the gameplay loop.
“With these varied gameplay options comes varied challenges from the enemies themselves. Draw too much attention and they will dynamically hunt the player, using their senses to track them down as best they can. Having the options to run, distract, hide or take on the enemies in combat – as well as switching tactics if things don’t go as planned – is a vital part of what we consider a truly horror-centric encounter design,” Screen Burn Interactive added.
