Despite the reception of 2015’s Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5, it seems that all hope isn’t gone for the beloved skateboarding sim franchise as the latest title with Birdman’s name on the box has appeared on mobile app stores.
Named Tony Hawk’s Skate Jam, the mobile title is sticking to its roots with a selection of maps and hand picked songs for the game’s soundtrack while applying to those for the hands-on platform. In a press release for the game, Tony Hawk himself states about the new mobile title:
I think players of my older games will enjoy the nostalgic feel, while younger, mobile-first players will love the online competitive element. The goal is to connect generations of skateboarding fans, casual players, and competitive gamers, and this game is the ideal platform for that.
Just like previous titles, there will be a career mode present with the mobile game which expands between 15 maps within five different. Ten skaters to unlock as you progress, 30 different boards to choose from, and even boss levels will play a part as you continue in the story campaign. There is a Hawk Mode available to play which transforms you into Tony Hawk himself as you up your combo as well.
For the multiplayer portion of the game, players will be able to participate in online tournaments to win prizes more player customization options upon the more standard online mode we’re already familiar with for the series. There is also the option to play offline if preferred also.
And just like most mobile titles in-game paid features are present which can boost your progression and exclusive cosmetics. A paid subscription is also an option which will have continuous rewards and other goodies from paying for the service.
