Bungie Studios is finally set to reveal the gameplay for its extraction shooter, Marathon.
In the past few days, several content creators and media members have teased that they got to play Marathon for the first time. There had also been several teases from the official Marathon X account.
Today, Bungie announced in a post on X that the gameplay reveal showcase for Marathon will go live on Saturday, April 12, at 10:00 AM PT and 1:00 PM ET. The announcement included a video teasing the setting of the game.
Marathon is a team-based extraction shooter and the first completely new project from Bungie, the creators of Halo and Destiny, in more than a decade. Set on the mysterious planet of Tau Ceti IV, Marathon will see players inhabit the bodies of Runners, cybernetic mercenaries who have been designed to survive the planet’s harsh environments. While exploring the lost colony that once inhabited the surface, players will search for valuable loot, including new weapons and gear.
Where to watch Marathon Gameplay Reveal
The Marathon Gameplay Reveal Showcase can be watched on Twitch and YouTube via the official account for the game.
Marathon was announced to return by Bungie in 2023, with an initial expectation for release in 2024. However, the game has been delayed and is now expected to launch in 2025. Other changes were made at the PlayStation-owned studio, bringing in former Valorant Directors to lead Marathon development.
While Bungie Studios is owned by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Marathon is going to be a multiplatform title. Players should expect to see the Extraction Shooter release on PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
