Halo Infinite’s big Winter Update is set to release on November 8th which comes with the Forge Beta among other features. Today, 343i revealed that Match XP will be introduced to the game when the Winter Update drops.
It won’t be the final version of what Match XP is as this will be in Beta form when we first see it in Halo Infinite.
Match XP consists of:
XP for completing matches
Additional XP for your performance in the match (this accounts for things like being on the winning team, your end-of-match placement, and more)
This is something we almost expected to see when the game launched, but instead in order to progress through the Battle Pass you’d have to complete challenges for more XP or if you just played a game you’d get some XP.
The reason its in beta is so that 343i can monitor the values for each reward category and adjusting as time goes on with this new mode. Of course, they will be listening to what the community thinks of this feature.
Here is an image from the Halo Waypoint blog post of what it will look like:

Not only is Match XP finally coming to the game, but the Challenge system is seeing an improvement. The changes will see challenges being completed in any playlist and will be more general rather than being more complicated.
We are reducing the number of Challenges required to hit the Ultimate Challenge from 20 to 10
All Challenges in regular weekly decks can be completed in any playlist
Challenges are more “general” overall
What do you think of these changes coming to Halo Infinite?
