This past October reintroduced the world of Guerilla Cambridge’s MediEvil as developer Other Ocean Interactive reimagines the 1998 game with a completely new look and a refreshing take on Sir Daniel Fortesque’s original story. While the game was received about average last year, the game however was ranked the fifth best selling in the United Kingdom the week of the remake’s launch.
So despite the lesser than expected reviews for the game, it still can be viewed as a commercial success on Sony Interactive Entertainment’s part. Possibly enough for a sequel though? Well actually yes. According to a couple tweets made by Andrew Barnabas who composed for the 2019 remake have looked to tease a sequel is inbound.
When speaking with fan account @SaveMediEvil who simply tweeted “2”, Barnabas replied to what looks like to be a sturdy confirmation from the implication of a second game.
What makes things more exciting for anticipated fans who are already hungry for a remake of the 2000 sequel is that Barnabas in a reply elsewhere of the same thread continues to validate there being another game. When another fan tells that the initial remake did not perform well and to hinder the chances of a rework for MediEvil 2, he states: “I’m sorry you are incorrect.”
What should be noted is that Barnabas is directing his reply to the assumption that there will be no remake for the sequel, not that the game under performed. Expanding onto when this project might arrive is left unknown as it is predicted that the title is still in very early phases of development – so don’t expect a reveal at any coming State of Play presentations.
Would you pick up the remake for MediEvil 2 if this tease happens to be true?
MediEvil Remake is available now for PlayStation 4.
