Believe it or not, there is not much time left until the two upcoming and highly-anticipated next-generation consoles arrive. In November, both Xbox Series X|S alongside PlayStation 5 will be available on retail shelves. In hindsight for what these new systems can do, Microsoft in a new blog post elaborates on how transitioning to its new system will bring more than one platform of titles with you.

In that, the Xbox Series X and the sibling Xbox Series S will be able to support backwards compatibility. Unlike the PlayStation 5 that offers support for its predecessor, the new hardware from Microsoft includes compatibility for Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Altogether, the firm shares there are thousands of titles primed for next month’s release with roughly 500,000 hours of gameplay to indulge in.

Elaborating on what this benefit will include, Xbox Series owners can expect cloud saves for Xbox 360 era titles to be free for no additional cost, Microsoft reveals.

With cloud saves, you’ll jump right back in where you left off.  For those of you still enjoying Xbox 360, cloud saves will soon be free to all Xbox 360 users, making transferring your favorite games to Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S even easier.

Again, Microsoft also goes to reiterate on other fundamental goodies that is also unique to the backwards compatibility program on Xbox Series X|S. Elements such as auto HDR support for older titles originally exempt from the feature, double framerates, and resolution outputs unreachable for the hardware respected titles were intended for.

More recently, Microsoft also discussed bringing more games to its latest console in the future. Xbox Director of Product Management Jason Ronald disclosed to be investigating on ways to incorporate more properties that has yet to face support for the current consoles.
