Gears Of War: E-Day Ships October 6th, Confirmed XBOX Exclusive

Rewinding back roughly two years ago, XBOX Game Studios & The Coalition announced Gears of War: E-Day. The new entry will be the earliest entry in the series following the events of Emergence Day as the Locust forces rush the planet’s surface. Even more, it was later confirmed that the new title will follow the original trilogy’s linear gameplay loop for this time around too.

Coming this summer, it was confirmed as part of the XBOX Games Showcase that there would be a second appearance for Gears of War: E-Day with a dedicated direct for the title. It was confirmed to be at least a half hour long in duration. What’s more, it is understood multiple collaborations for the game are to take place as well. One being a direct partnership of some form with WWE for the game’s promotion.

Now at the XBOX Games Showcase, we learn that Gears of War: E-Day is to ship this October ahead of Halloween. What’s more is that XBOX boss Asha Sharma confirmed that Gears of War: E-Day will launch exclusively on XBOX hardware. You can watch the new gameplay trailer in the video below:

“We took advantage of UE5 to bring Gears up to speed with where modern gaming is, without losing what makes it authentic. You’re playing a sweaty Gears game — but it’s entirely built from scratch to capture the emotional core of those older games,” creative director Matt Searcy shares on the game’s development. Technical director Kate Rayner also added :”We literally rebuilt everything from scratch. Characters, enemies, weapons, animation, sound, the world itself.”

Brand director Nicole Fawcette also elaborates on the setting’s storytelling injects to the Gears of War: E-Day: “The environment gets to tell a story, whereas before, you’re just walking through the ruins of cities in the aftermath of war. You’re going to see it through Marcus and Dom’s perspective, but you’re also going to open up the lens of what else is happening in the world, and what other people are going through. That’s pretty unique to E-Day.”
