Despite the early release this year back in March, Monster Hunter Rise stands to be a well-received release from our critic David Rodriguez. He writes, “The hunt, the drive to defeat these beasts and conquer them, is what makes this game so great. The first time you land a trap, mount and capture or kill a monster, is a satisfaction that can’t be explained.”

But in post-launch, Capcom continues to fuel the flames with its own unique IPs outside of Monster Hunter. Most recently, the Japanese publisher shared that it will be incorporating the GameCube release Okami with Monster Hunter Rise. Additionally, it is suggested that the universes crossed between Capcom and Monster Hunter Rise is to continue leading forward.

In a new trailer from Capcom, Street Fighter is the next game to make its debut for Monster Hunter Rise. More precisely, Akuma is coming to the game on Friday, August 27th. You can watch the trailer in the video below:

“Equip this layered armor to not only alter your hunter’s voice and appearance, but to change kunai attacks into Akuma’s iconic moves, like the Gohadoken and the Zanku Hadoken,” Capcom shares in the announcement. “Akuma even has his own special animation on the Quest Completed screen!

“If you equip a sword & shield, your attacks will change into punches and kicks. Perform a Perfect Rush to dish out a fearsome combo, and use various Silkbind attacks to unleash moves like the Goshoryuken and the Tatsumaki Zankukyaku on unsuspecting monsters! Your pose while your weapon is drawn will change into something special as well, so make sure you grab this layered armor to see for yourself!”

Do you plan to try out Akuma in Monster Hunter Rise?

Monster Hunter Rise is out now for Nintendo Switch.
