Following the surprise reveal of the expected sequel to the 2015 fighter, the question of what’s to come for the upcoming title was left as fans patiently wait until Spring 2019 for the title’s full release.
NetherRealm Studios revealed in a recent press release some of the details revolving around new features that will be introduced in the upcoming title. When discussing the story, the press release reads it as “time-bending”, meaning other iterations of characters will be making an appearance that might have missed the chance following the franchise’s reboot.
It is also mentioned that variety between characters will be getting a tune up following the feedback received from Mortal Kombat X and Injustice 2. Using the player response to not only craft a better experience for MKXI, but also expand on it further than ever with more diversity in how you play.
With only the reveal trailer giving just the name and some iconic characters for the April-launching title, a full reveal for the game will be taking place on January 17, 2019 which will be livestreamed and hosted live in Los Angeles.
Mortal Kombat XI is set to release on April 23, 2019 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
