While last year’s Game Awards provided the deserved awards given to ZA/UM’s Disco Elysium, it was unsure what would come to fruition to the narrative RPG. In the brief time that the game released in mid October of 2019, the title climbed the social ladder for being one of the most influential properties that released scoring some of the largest nominations in the December show later that year.
It was later shared that Disco Elysium would be awarded Best Narrative, Best RPG, Best Fresh Indie, and Best Independent Game at the Game Awards. However, it wouldn’t be guessed that from all the success of such a young project that it would sprout a television series less than a year following its retail release.
According to a new report from Variety, ZA/UM and D12 Entertainment both agreed to collaborate to bring the universe to life in a new television series. The announcement shares that this new project is still in early stages as there still is no disclosed writer to pen the story nor a supported network to broadcast said production when its ready for release.
We’re so gratified at the response ‘Disco Elysium’ has received, and very happy to be teaming with dj2 to expand the franchise for other media and new audiences.

Most intriguing about the announcement for the new television show involving developer ZA/Um is that D12 Entertainment will be producing the new series. Previously, the firm was responsible for co-producing the February-hit Sonic the Hedgehog. In a separate report elsewhere, D12 Entertainment will also be involved with the production for My Friend Pedro television series with John Wick writer Derek Kolstad writing the script.
In other Disco Elysium news previously, ZA/UM disclosed that the game can expect a Nintendo Switch version for the title sometime later on. You can read the full report by heading here.
