Although it is certain many fans of the beloved Nintendo DS title ‘The World Ends with You’ surely gave up on hopes for a follow-up since the game arrived more than a decade ago now, Square Enix has not forgotten. In an abrupt announcement in late November, the Japanese publisher announced NEO: The World Ends with You which stands to be a new entry for the series.
Namely what is new with the game reintroduces players to Shibuya as you will face against adversaries in the ‘Reaper’s Game’. While not voluntarily, you, Rindo, must uncover the reasoning for the sick “game” and the mysteries that are imbedded within the core of Japan’s capital city, Tokyo.
While primed for a 2021 release, Square Enix did not disclose an approximate date. But in a new announcement, the firm now reveals that NEO: The World Ends with You is to arrive later in late July this summer. You can watch the release date trailer in the video below:
Most noted from the latest footage of the game is that NEO: The World Ends with You features the musical composition of Takeharu Ishimoto, the original composer for the 2007 title. Even more, the “noise” is shared to be a large influence on how the game is affected gameplay wise, as per Square Enix Public Relations Manager Adam Pelc..
“As you and your band of allies explore Shibuya and compete in the Reaper’s Game, you’ll be fighting against the Noise in battle. Rindo can visualize these enemies through scanning, one of the fundamental psych abilities available in the game. Scanning also reveals what the people of Shibuya have on their minds. You might stumble upon some important pieces of information, so be sure to scan often.”
Are you excited that NEO: The World Ends with You arrives later this summer?
