Although Borderlands 3 arrive nearly two years ago coming this fall, the franchise continues to echo in terms of other related announcements. In that, the upcoming motion picture based on the Gearbox Software franchise is coming underway. Recently, Star Wars Battlefront II star Janina Gavankar announced she will be casted as General Knoxx in the forthcoming film.
For the game, the last DLC scheduled for the 2019 release, The Director’s Cut, arrived back in early April. Even more, Borderlands 3 was later welcomed to a new video game streaming service. In that, Sony Interactive Entertainment added the game to PlayStation Now and will remain on there until this summer.
Noted, the game does feature cross-play since last year, but some platforms are still out of the equation. However, Gearbox Software prepped a update for Borderlands 3 to bridge all supported systems. However, the client when going live is said to be disabled for PlayStation by demand of publisher 2K, studio lead Randy Pitchford shared.
Previously, it was announced following the merge into Embracer Group that Borderlands is to remain a subsidiary under publisher 2K. However, despite the legality of the license, Embracer Group presses that Gearbox Software can still collaborate with 2K for Borderlands. But now, it appears the firm is limiting the studio’s reach to support its consumers. Additionally, this also clarifies that it is 2K to blame – not Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Recently, a report went out disclosing that Gearbox Software is working on a new Borderlands game. While specific details were unknown at the time, it was told that the project would be a spin-off outsourced to a different developer. But, Pitchford went to Twitter to denounce the claims made on the alleged title. You can read the full report by heading here.
