The upcoming entries for the Batman Arkham series continues to appear before us with announcements scheduled for this coming summer is greater than it’s ever been. Although neither Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment nor the respected developer has commented on the matters of a new game coming just yet, there is plenty of nuance that emits from evidence fans have uncovered online in the past.
One is the scattered teases that developer Warner Bros. Montreal has littered on social media just picking at antsy followers hungry for a new game. While more suspected announcements are disclosed through insider whispers that outlet GameReactor reported on earlier this month.
But now according to new domain listings online – we could expect these announcements to be upon us. And yes, I’m using plural as ResetEra posters have found two different domains for the Batman series. On the thread, user DriftingOrbit has shared who uncovered two websites registered by Warner Bros. regarding the Dark Knight’s universe: GothamKnights and SuicideSquadKillTheJusticeLeague.
Interesting enough, we could be seeing what could be underway for both Warner Bros. Montreal alongside the seasoned Rocksteady Studios. While the Canadian developer has teased the next project to be centered around the Court of Owls story arch for the DC Comics hero, a title for the game has yet to be disclosed. But when reflecting on a previous report on the title, this might be what anticipating fans have been waiting for.
Back in October of last year, word began to break out regarding the unannounced game as insiders passed around the possibility of more than one playable hero in the game. With the Arkham series adopting more than one controllable character as the franchise evolved, the claim held some foundation to be legitimate. In that, the ‘GothamKnights’ titling does offer to be a possible name for the game from Warner Bros. Montreal.
As for the latter Suicide Squad game, it was already confirmed that the Montreal division has extinguished any development on its attempt for the group of villains. However, it is entirely possible that Rocksteady’s new project might be just that if the Arkham Origins team were unable to craft a game of that degree. Supporting that claim comes from a post made by the developer back in early 2018 as actors pose for a picture in the team’s motion capture studio.
More than two years since the release of Batman Arkham Knight, this was the first sign of the team’s involvement on a new project which grew excitement for something very soon. Glancing over the image of the team after a test shoot, fans online speculated that Rocksteady Studios could be tackling a game with a larger cast of characters, perhaps Suicide Squad. However, nothing else to back the claim ever emerged since then, so take that as you will.
Ultimately, fans will not learn of what is truly underway at both Rocksteady Studios and Warner Bros. Montreal until this coming August with the DC Fandome. You can read the full announcement by heading here.
What do you hope to see from the two teams in the coming future?
