New Friday The 13th Game Is Moving Forward For The Slasher Universe, Horror Inc. Announces

Horror movie franchises and video games are starting to form its own renaissance as of late. We saw this with titles like Halloween being greenlit just last year. Even this month, Saber Interactive revealed Hellraiser is receiving a single-player title including Clive Barker & Doug Bradley both returning to the franchise together after roughly two decades.

Additionally, Friday The 13th is also in frame for a new video game. Retracing our steps back to 2023, franchise composer Harry Manfredini did share that a new video game of sorts is being pieced together. This come as big news since the fate of the franchise was practically abandoned due to the trademarks of the franchise. The previous video game ran into a legal barricade back in 2018. The game was later delisted in 2023.

But thanks to the newly formed ‘Jason Universe’ as per Horror Inc., there is new hope for the IP. Already, a live-action show by A24 ‘Crystal Lake’ is filming currently. And at San Diego Comic Con, the firm announced a new film is on the way. Alongside showcasing a teaser for its upcoming ‘Sweet Revenge’ vignette, Horror Inc. verified its moving forward with a new video game too.

“I can tell you that a new sequel movie and new sequel game are at the top of our list. It’s where most of our energy’s going right now. And I can tell you finally we’re in a position to deliver on that,” Robbie Barsamian, Horror Inc. vice president said in a statement to Bloody Disgusting. “While we’re not officially announcing with our partners today, both are coming. They’re both in the works and they’re both coming.”

Gun Media, the firm that shipped the previous Friday The 13th game went on to release Texas Chain Saw Massacre. In 2023, Rectify Gaming scored it a 6.5/10. “The Chain Saw Massacre has a lot of potential but the limited licensing, the budget, and content release schedule all severely hamper the potential of the  game itself.” You can read the full review by heading here.
