New Modes coming to Minecraft

New modes are coming to the console version of Minecraft.
This June Microsoft will release the first of an unknown number of expansions for Minecraft. These expansions will each bring a new way to play the game. First up “Battle!”. This mode is what it says, a free competitive multiplayer with three maps initial maps.
Although the community has already come up with various ways to play Minecraft on both the PC and the console, these mini games will offer players a quick way to jump in to a tailor made competition complete with pre-determined rules, countdowns and everything. Eliminating the need for the manual effort beforehand.
The Battle! mini game will place players on predetermined maps with chests randomly scattered around each containing a different resource needed to survive, very similar to the Hunger Games. Competitors will then fight it out in a free-for-all to see who emerges victorious.
This game mode will support up to 4 players locally, or 8 players over Xbox Live with an in gaming matchmaking system being implemented allowing players to participate in a full game.
