The Chinese Room have released a new “An Introduction to World building” documentary for their new first-person narrative horror game, Still Wakes the Deep. In An Introduction to World Building, the developers at The Chinese Room share the narrative behind Still Wakes the Deep and the research motivating the development.
The documentary covers how the environment will evolve over time along with the key inspirations behind the game’s horror. The time period and geographical location of the rig all play a crucial role in this horror story. During this documentary it shows glimpses of gameplay for the first time since its announcement trailer at the Xbox Games Showcase.
Watch the short documentary below:
In Still Wakes the Deep, you are an off-shore oil rig worker, fighting for his life through a vicious storm, perilous surroundings, and the dark, freezing North Sea waters. All lines of communication have been severed. All exits are gone. All that remains is to face the unknowable horror that’s come aboard. Search for your crew and help them survive if you can. Run, climb, and swim through the flooding corridors and storm-lashed outer decks. Face a terrifying, unrelenting foe. And pray that, one day, you get to see your family again.
Still Wakes the Deep will release in 2024 for PC, Xbox Series XlS and PlayStation 5. It’ll also be releasing Day One on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.
