This past Nintendo Direct held plenty of hype towards fans hoping for the debut of some long awaited titles. Some looking forward to the rumor surrounding a Metroid Prime trilogy while some others anticipated another Smash Ultimate reveal. For fans of Bayonetta, many speculated an update on the game’s current development seeing the Direct’s airing a day before Valentine’s Day, but we know now that is not the case.
Instead we were introduced to PlatinumGames Astral Chain, though not Bayonetta was still very exciting to see nonetheless. But according to the latest Nitnendo Power Podcast, Bayonetta 3 is on the way for “later this year” Nintendo’s Bill Trinen says.
Bayonetta 3 is still in the works…and of course that’s another game that’s maybe coming a little bit sooner than people anticipated. Later this year.
Regardless of the confirming statement from the Senior Product Marketing Manager and lack of specified detail on when in 2019 the title will drop, it is reassuring to those who have been waiting for the Umbra Witch’s return. If this later happens to be true, 2019 will be a very busy year for PlatinumGames as two titles will be releasing from the studio as Astral Chain is set for this coming August.
Recently, it was revealed that Bayonetta 2’s Director Yasuke Hasimoto has announced to be leaving Platinum after kicking off the company back in 2007. For who will take the role for the third game in the series has yet to be disclosed from either Nintendo or PlatinumGames.
Bayonetta 3 currently stands with an 2019 release date for Nintendo Switch,
