Nintendo announced this morning that Nintendo Switch Online is going to be receiving a price hike in Japan starting on July 1, 2026. Currently, this is only confirmed to be happening in Japan as other regions have not been mentioned.

We would like to inform you that the service price for “Nintendo Switch Online” will be revised as follows, effective July 1, 2026 (Wednesday). We sincerely apologize to all users of Nintendo Switch Online for any inconvenience this may cause, and we appreciate your understanding.”

Here is the price breakdown for the different Nintendo Switch Online membership options:

1 month – ¥306, now ¥400
3 Month –  ¥815, now ¥1,000
12 Month – ¥2,400, now ¥3,000
Family plan – ¥4,500, now ¥5,800
Expansion Pack –  ¥4,900, now ¥5,900
Family Expansion Pack – ¥8,900 now ¥9,900

In May, Nintendo announced a price increase for the Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide that will take effect on September 1, but Japan received the price increase already in late May. The Switch 2 soon enough will cost $500 instead of its original price of $450.
