The Oddworld series surely has been on hold for majority of this console generation. With the last entry taking place back in 2014 with Oddworld: New N’ Tasty! Releasing half a decade ago already, fans are surely eager to see the next installment inbound for the series. And that wish has finally been granted as the newest title for the growing series has been revealed during the recent PlayStation 5 showcase this week.
Developer Oddworld Inhabitants did so by announcing Oddworld: Soulstorm. The next action, puzzle platformer follows immediately after the ending of its 2014 predecessor where Abe begins to truly open his eyes to the potential he carries in saving the Mudokon people.
You can watch the full reveal trailer in the video below:
“Whether you prefer the classic Abe playstyle of sneaking and problem solving or using scavenge for what you need to create an arsenal that you can hand off to your followers that you have saved along the way, Oddworld: Soulstorm gives you more choices to replay with different approaches,” Oddworld Inhabitants Co-Founder Lorne Lanning elaborates on the basis for the next title.
“Add in light RPG elements, leader boards, trophies for completionists, and a progression system and Soulstorm sets a new standard for next-generation action adventure platformers.” Soulstorm alike another handful of titles shown off will be releasing exclusively on PlayStation 5 first with other platforms to follow later on.
In a similar set of events, Oddworld: Soulstorm will also be arriving to the current and upcoming PlayStation just like KO_OP’s Goodbye Volcano High which also received an announcement during the PlayStation 5 show. You can read the report for the game’s announcement by heading here.
