Fans who have waited nearly a decade to play the unique Japanese sequel Phantasy Star Online 2 are in for a treat as anyone will be able to partake in the live open beta for the game which commenced this afternoon. Although the game did receive a closed playtest earlier this year, those who missed it can now indulge in the fun staring today.
Noted that the game is listed to launch for both Xbox One alongside Windows 10 PC, the current open beta for the title is only available on Microsoft’s platform for the time being. Even more, the beta will only stretch out to the united States and Canada, alike previously held playtests for Phantasy Star Online 2.
In the time approaching today’s commencement for the open beta, Sega revealed that players can purchase a Founder Pack for the game. Dubbed the ‘Sonic Collaboration Edition,’ this will provide users with the base game alongside a treasure trove of in-game paraphernalia inspired by Team Sonic’s blue blur mascot. Elsewhere, it looks that despite the uncertainty of the PC version for Phantasy Star Online 2, there is some good news at least. According to those who dissected the game manual discovered that there is a Steam version planned to release sometime. Assumably this unannounced iteration for PC is expected to be shown following the release scheduled for later this year.
So starting today on March 17, Xbox One users can play Phantasy Star Online 2 by visiting the game’s page on the Xbox Store. It is left undetermined for how long the open beta will last for the game as of reporting.
