It wasn’t too long ago that we learned of Sega’s Panzer Dragoon series rerunning with remakes for the first two installments being developed by Future Entertainment. However, whilst the titles are still well into the making, there is yet another project related to the series that has been announced this week.
According to Wildman Inc, the company announced a new Panzer Dragoon experience – Panzer Dragoon Voyage Record. Essentially, the title holds as an acronym for VR which also is associated with virtual reality, the growing peripheral in the gaming market.
Although there is just an announcement with little details as to what this experience will be exactly, there is a statement to give some more perspective on the title:
This work is a completely new work to play the episodes of the series trilogy by a new graphics that the first person view optimized for VR headsets and a new input method that likens the VR controller to the handgun of the dragon rider. The recording episodes and the support platform to be announced later.
Delving into the finer details of the game’s scheduled release, Wildman Inc does clarify that 2020 also seeps into the full fiscal years which could forecast a launch date as late as March 2021. However, the game has still yet to come to fruition and there might be an earlier release if development goes according to plan for the development team.
Other interesting aspects to go on is the idea of an actual virtual reality title coming from a Sega property. The announcement would go the lengths in suggesting fans to expect a release on PlayStation VR and potentially oculus or Valve Index even. However, simple conjecture cannot hold as fact until properly being disclosed by either party will be a validating confirmation.
Even more, the timeframe suggested for the virtual reality title is only limited to Japan as well: there is no tangible way to determine if there will be a release for the west later on.
Do you think Panzer Dragoon would hold well in virtual reality?
Panzer Dragoon Voyage Record is said to release later in 2020 for undisclosed VR platforms.
