Developer Voidpoint since 2018 has worked on iterated on the title Ion Fury. Originally, the game was titled ‘Ion Maiden’, however, due to legal pushback from music group Iron Maiden it was changed to the new name in 2019 very close to the game’s release. In the time that followed Ion Fury, the team has continued with a sequel.

In 2024, Ion Phantom released offering a continuation to the story for Bombshell and her new journey across the United States in the dystopic road story. Previously, Voidpoint & 3D Realms shipped a DLC for Ion Fury – Aftershock. The expansion released originally on PC back in 2023, however, it did not reach other platforms despite the gaming being available on all major consoles.

This week. Ion Fury: Aftershock officially launches on Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch. You can watch the DLC trailer in the video below:

“Aftershock continues the story moments after Shelly’s victory over Dr. Jadus Heskel, as her celebration is cut short by explosions and her nemesis’s dramatic escape aboard a monstrous flying machine. Armed with her signature Loverboy revolver and commandeering the heavily weaponized Roadripper hoverbike, players guide Shelly through her most perilous adventure yet, featuring brand-new zones packed with enhanced enemies and devastating weaponry,” the synopsis reads.

“The console versions have been thoughtfully enhanced for gamepad users, featuring precision aiming mechanics, a redesigned UI optimized for TV screens and console navigation, and streamlined controls for intuitive gameplay. Players can customize their controller layouts to suit their preferences, with gyro support available on PS4 and vibration feedback across platforms for added immersion. Each platform benefits from specific optimizations that ensure smooth performance across all consoles.”
