Phil Spencer had a few surprises towards the end of the Xbox E3 conference today, most notably the mention of the next Xbox console being developed. It’s no surprise that it is being worked on of course, but for him to talk about it even when it may be 2-3 years away certainly shocked some. It shows his commitment to the brand and the acquisition of studios he mentioned also prove that they are in a great position to start of their next generation.
On the Cloud gaming front, he mentioned that the engineering team back at Xbox are hard at work at developing cloud based solutions to play Xbox games on any device, including smartphones. This seems to tie into the Project XCloud that was mentioned in our E3 Prediction article. It’s interesting stuff, and will certainly be cool to see grow as the technology advances. Even if you don’t have access to a powerhouse PC or Xbox, you will be able to play the latest and greatest games, and that’s an exciting proposition.
