With yet another month out of the way leading to this holiday season, findings of the two next-generation are going to be even more interesting as the said information is on the brink of its respected announcement. While bother Sony & Microsoft has been adamant to not disclosing its pricing or release date for the their flagship systems, insiders in the meantime are tossing in their knowledge of the platforms arriving at the year’s end.

On ResetEra, recognized Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem recently discloses new details which that counteracts against the upcoming PlayStation 5. Reflecting on the user’s accuracy with other matters, they previously disclosed some definitive information on the coming Resident Evil 8 title prior to its announcement. In that, they shared the new title will be a first-person experience again and emphasized fans might not be pleased to learn that upon its public debut.

Now returning to the topic of Sony’s coming console, Dusk Golem compares the two console by explaining that the Xbox Series X is a more efficient model in contrast to the PlayStation 5 in measure of “raw power” offered in the system’s technological architecture. Continuing further by explaining that the firm could profit with a lower price thanks to the platform’s imbedded Xbox Game Pass service.

To give the broadest idea, I’ll just say the Xbox X is by far more powerful than the PS5 if we’re just talking raw power, multi-platform games will run better on Xbox X is something people are going to have to prepare themselves for. Add to this Microsoft are ready to lowball Sony when it comes to price. They can more easily make a sacrifice and get back profits from Game Pass than console sales than Sony can from that comparatively.

In a reply on the thread, Dusk Golem then goes on to explain that despite the minimal struggle developers will face when creating their projects for PlayStation 5, the hardware does not perform in favor when set next to Xbox Series X. “PS5 is easier to develop for overall and Sony has very talented studios behind it that will get the most out of the PS5, that I have no doubts about either, but this topic is about how Microsoft will compete so what I’m focused on.

“But when it comes to cross-platform games, they will end up performing a lot better on Xbox X. Xbox X will have the tech advantage over PS5, and it will be more than marginable.” Elsewhere in a separate reply, the user then discloses that some developers are finding issues to properly manage titles operating at 1080p resolution paired with 60 frames per second performance which also aligns with his argument on the thread. He does support that Sony’s hardware does perform well with first-party projects, but the same cannot be said for multiplatform entries.

“The basic gist of what I’ve heard is the PS5 is really good to work on for games exclusive to it, but in practice the specs kinda’ get weird for multi-platform games. If multi-plat the usage of PS5’s SSD systems does help a bit, but not to the fullest, and I’ve heard some dev friends talk a bit about the struggle PS5 has for 1080p games running 60fps still, while Xbox X doesn’t have the same problem and can push above that even in most cases.”

While Dusk Golem does not emphasize on what projects in particular are to be a defining factor for this issue on PlayStation 5, they do elaborate more surrounding the coming Resident Evil 8. Initially stating that the project presented frame pacing issues in its announcement trailer, the title will effectively launch meeting the 1080p/60 fps benchmark. However, expanding to 4K will be done through an upscaled resolution output which the current PlayStation 4 Pro already offers for titles supporting the graphical density.

To paraphrase on the “interestingly” discussed outcome for PlayStation 5 as told by Dusk Golem, it will be worth keep an eye for how this will unravel in long term following the recent report disclosing Sony’s pursuit to offer more timed exclusive releases for the PlayStation 5.
