When exercising your options to play games, this window in recent years has opened immensely for fans of PlayStation IPs. In that, titles are slowly trickling out from Sony Interactive Entertainment to PC like Steam and Epic Games Store. In 2022 alone, we witnessed with a few games so far. Rewinding back to January God of War arrives and this summer introduced Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered as well.

Moving forward, October is showing to be a very plentiful month as well. Firstly, the long-promised Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection is set to arrive. Additionally, Sackboy: A Big Adventure just received its confirmation for PC which is also scheduled to launch later this month as well.

In a recent interview with French tech YouTuber Julien Chièze, he speaks with PlayStations Studios head Hermen Hulst who reveals that PlayStation titles take roughly one year before being realized for a PC port. You can watch the segment of the interview in the video below:

“Going forward we’ll see at least a year between releases on our own platform on PlayStation and on the PC platform – possibly with the exception of live service games,” Hulst explains. Live service games are a little bit different in nature because you want to have really strong communities, strong engagement right away when you go live so in the case of our live service offerings go day and date with PC and the PlayStation platform.”

Exploring what direction Sony Interactive Entertainment is taking with its live-service approach, Bungie is at the forefront for this ambition. The firm explained this with the $3 billion acquisition still underway back in spring this year. The effort is also reiterated by Hulst in the interview with some of the partnered projects in the pipeline already. The PlayStation company aims for 10 releases by 2026 according to one statement made in February 2022.

Looking how Sony Interactive Entertainment plans to properly establish this, President & CEO Jim Ryan does elaborate on the topic. In an investor’s briefing, he shares that the plan crosses with its efforts in the mobile market as well as PlayStation reaches to audiences beyond the conventional home consoles moving forward.
