Today was the annual Pokémon Presents where many new announcements were made for the series. One of the announcements we saw was Pokémon Champions which is expected to be a successor to Pokémon Stadium. The last bit of news we received was for the highly anticipated Pokémon Legends Z-A.

A new trailer for Pokémon Legends Z-A was showcased revealing that the title will be released in late 2025 for Nintendo Switch. The video also shares the three starters – Tepig, Chikorita, and Totodile.

The story is set in Lumiose City, where an urban redevelopment plan is underway to shape the city into a place that belongs to both people and Pokémon. Lumiose City appeared in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y in 2013, but this time around there is more greenery surrounding the city, alongside facilities with a cutting-edge feel.

In Lumiose City, spaces frequented by people—such as shopping arcades, cafés, and restaurants—coexist with more natural areas, such as waterfronts and verdant parks. At the center of Lumiose stands Prism Tower, the very symbol of the city.

There are also Wild Zones, new battle features where you can take control over both the Pokémon and Trainers in real time during battle, and more.

Pokémon Legends Z-A is only confirmed for Nintendo Switch and there has not been any indication that it’ll be on the Switch 2 yet.
