The first mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 is titled Outlaws from the West. This is where you’ll be introduced to Arthur Morgan, the main character of the game, along with other members of the gang who visit the Adlers’ Ranch to search for supplies.
This mission is far from being difficult; it’s more of a fancy tutorial on how to get used to the mechanics of the game.
Walkthrough
Once the opening cutscene concludes, you’ll find yourself riding a horse. You’ll want to follow Dutch and match his speed by using the action button. This is a linear journey where you’ll begin to learn more about each character as the dialogue continues. You should not stray away from the route you are on.
Arthur and Dutch will then meet up with Micah, who mentions they found a homestead. You’ll now be following Micah, and you can talk to him on the go using the talk button.
When you arrive at the Adler’s Ranch, get off the horse and walk towards the house, and take cover at the shed to the left. You can hide in the shed or just outside of it, but make sure to take cover. Dutch will then introduce himself to the residents living there. They are members of the O’Driscoll gang. You must attack them before they get to Dutch.
Tip: Stay behind cover and shoot the enemies who lean out of cover or change positions, making them exposed.
The last survivor of the ranch will try to flee on the left side of the building. You can attempt to kill him, but Dutch will allow him to go. Next, you’ll enter the ranch with Dutch and search the building to collect items you see and check all interactive cabinets and crates.
After searching and finding consumables, you’ll be asked to use of to regenerate the hero’s health core. Open your satchel and select and consumable. You can continue searching the building, then head outside to speak to Dutch again.
Dutch will tell you to investigate the barn, which is South of the ranch. Once you open the door, someone will attack Arthur, taking his hat off. Now you’ll melee the member of the O’Driscoll gang until he’s lying on the ground. Next, grab him and interrogate the O’Driscoll until he gives answers. Once he provides answers, you have the option to choke him, beat him, or let him go.
After the exchange is done, pick up your hat and walk towards the horse. Calm down the horse and walk with it towards the gang at the ranch. Then a cutscene will appear, concluding the first mission of Chapter 1 – Colter.
How To Get The Gold Medal In Outlaws From The West?
Every Red Dead Redemption 2 mission will have challenges players can complete to get Silver or Gold Medals. If you don’t complete any, you’ll end up with Bronze. In Outlaws from the West there are three objectives you have to finish in order to get the gold medal:
1 – Finish the shooting without taking damage – don’t leave your initial cover or walk in the open during the shootout between gangs.
2 – Gather 6 or more items from the Adler Ranch. Before going outside, search the building for all interactive items you can collect.
3 – Complete the mission with no less than 80% accuracy. The best way to do this is to wait for your enemies to stop moving, improving your chances of making your shot count.
