Caking on the new trend of pending delays for highly-anticipated video games, it was Cyberpunk 2077 that left the biggest hit for players globally as we discovered last week that the 2012 announced project would be receiving a push in its release from spring 2020 to fall later this year. Upon the broader reasoning backing the pushed date for “playtesting, fixing, and polishing,” there might be more than what the development team told us.

According to Polish Insider Borys Niespeilak, however, he shares that the studio was limited to the restraining hardware of the current generation Xbox One and PlayStation 4 which resulted in needing more time to optimize the game. Sources associated with the development assured that the game would be delayed if not resolved by the new year, Niespeilak cites.

[If] this problem with Xbox has not been solved by January 2020, the release date must be postponed.

Validating the claim which was reported by Altchar, the website after discussing with Polish players via Discord clarify that Borys Niespeilak is viewed to be as reputable as Kotaku’s News Editor, Jason Schreier. The users they spoke with also took part in translating Niespeilak from the podcast he disclosed the information on.

Discussion of hardware incapability regarding the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 is not foreign to the discussion, it was last year that we learned that Nintendo Switch has also fallen victim to this subject matter. Although 2015’s The Witcher 3: Wild hunt did make an impressive entry to the Nintendo eShop, CD Projekt Red shared that it would night be as bright for the approaching sci-fi game.

Alluding to the statement potentially being legitimate, it is still uncertain if that is truly the reasoning for the game’s unfortunate delay. However, it would explain for the date push seeing how abrupt it was made just a few short months ahead of the game’s originally scheduled release.

Are you still planning on picking up Cyberpunk 2077 this fall?
