Summary
Another Eden is worth checking out if you are looking for a new, traditional RPG experience. Don't be scared by the Gacha element, you can do well even with the free characters!
Another Eden is a single-player mobile game that features a script written by Masato Kato. It is a turn-based RPG that features a Gacha pull system to gain access to more characters. This might remind you of Genshin Impact, but unlike Genshin, there are no multiplayer aspects at all. The Gacha might turn some away, but you can actually do quite well with the free-to-play characters.

The game begins with a baby in a forest who is found by Beast, who notices the baby’s internal dormant power. However, before he can really interact with the baby he senses other humans approaching. An older man spots the child and a younger boy comes out from hiding in the bushes. Some time passes, both children have been taken in by the old man and are now young adults. From here, you go on a quest to create a birthday present for the older man who rescued you.
This quest, of course, leads to everything going wrong. Your sister is kidnapped, you discover a cat that can travel between different dimensions, and you find a magical sword. Eventually you are even transported into the distant future. Now you are on an epic journey where you and your party travel through different areas doing quests and adventuring.

The combat of the game is your typical turn-based RPG. You have a party of characters that you can either obtain by natural progression or through the Gacha pulls. These characters have different abilities and focuses that make them unique from each other. As your character’s level increases, you can unlock new abilities and become even stronger.
There is a lot about the game to enjoy. The story that I experienced so far is really well done. I wish there was some more voice acting than what is included. I guess since it was originally a mobile game there are some limitations there. The music and sound design is solid as well. The Gacha element isn’t super strong, which is nice for a free-to-play game. From what I have experienced so far, and from what I have heard, the game is very free-to-play friendly.

There have been some rumors and speculations that the game does include an Anti-Cheat software. However, this seems to have some Malware type functionality included. This is definitely a bit concerning, but it passed the checks in place from Steam to be in the store. I would prefer them to charge $15-$30 for the game instead of Gacha in a purely single-player game. This would limit the need for an Anti-Cheat software to be installed on your system all together. It just makes more sense to have Gacha in a game that features some form of multiplayer element.
I was actually pretty surprised at how strong the game is for being a free-to-play mobile game released on PC. There are even a few collaboration events with other games such as Persona and the Tales of series. The combat is straight forward, the design of the characters are nice, and the environments are well done. The more I played the game on PC, however, the more I just wanted to play on the phone instead. If it were on the Switch, I feel like it would be a perfect home for this type of game. I would say this game is worth checking out if you are looking for a traditional RPG. Especially since it is free!
