While under the impression that Electronic Arts is planning to make some large announcements at its coming showcase in July, fans are uncertain what the presentation will feature for the publisher. With updates on series like Apex Legends and its arrangement of EA Sports releases, there is speculation there is some unexpected announcements to take place during EA Play Live.
From GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb already, he previously hinted at the upcoming show to be a complete Dead Space remake. Corroborating with a previous podcast airing, he said, “I think you’ll be happy. We’re going to see it… If we’re not dead first.” Now, Grubb has more details to elaborate on the latest claim from the known leaker.
In that, Grubb now claims the project is to be helmed by developer EA Motive (Star Wars Squadrons) and was manifested thanks to the response of the Resident Evil remakes in recent years.
“For its Dead Space game, Motive is taking notes from Capcom’s recent Resident Evil remakes,” Grubb writes. “Like Resident Evil 2 Remake, expect the next Dead Space to use the original game as a strong foundation. But it should also have modern visuals. And it will likely bring in new gameplay mechanics inspired by other entries in the franchise.”
Additionally, Grubb went on to explain the pursuit was greenlit from Electronic Arts following the financial and received success of Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. As the publisher pans away from its heavily-criticized live service approach, the firm has pledged to put the teams at the helm of development leading forward, said Laura Miele, Electronic Arts Chief Studios Officer.
In the past, developer EA Motive commented that it is working on a new IP. And while rumors afloat at the time leaned speculation at the team to work on a possible Star Wars: Force Unleashed title, the team later clarified that not to be its next project.
